Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has sent a clear message toViktor Gyokeres on social media after the Swedish striker ended his drought in front of goal.

The Swedish striker scored a brace for Mikel Arteta's side in the 4-0 win over Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League encounter.

The two strikes take Gyokeres to five goals in 12 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions following his summer switch from Sporting CP.

Gyokeres took to social media to celebrate his two goals, sharing a number of images from the Champions League win, including some of his goal celebrations.

The Swede sent a simple one-word message with the caption: "Together. [Bicep emoji, red loveheart emoji]" A number of his Arsenal teammates responded to the post, but it was another one-word message from Rice that caught the eye.

The England international responded with the word: "Correct." On the surface, there may not appear to be much in the message, but the Arsenal dressing room has reiterated their desire to win the Premier League title have gone close in the last three seasons, with the view that this year, is their year.

The win over Atletico was a clear statement of intent with Arsenal starting to find their rhythm having moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League and going well in the Champions League.

Liverpool's run of three straight defeats in the top flight saw Arne Slot's side surrender top spot, with the Gunners four points clear of the Reds in third. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are in second place and hot on Arsenal's tail.

Arteta will be hoping there's more to come from Gyokeres having ended his drought in front of goal, with the Gunners next in action against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Speaking to Arsenal's website after his brace against Atletico, Gyokeres said: "It’s always amazing to score goals and to do it here in this competition, it's a great feeling. I'm more hungry now.

"You always want to contribute with work rate and other stuff, but when you score goals as well, it's a bit special. So that's something I always want to do.

"[The support] means a lot, they're amazing. I think the group we have, and the spirit is something different and something very special. It feels great. We did a lot of things right today, and the performance was amazing."
