CBSE: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a big and strict step regarding the safety of children in schools. The board has amended its by-laws and made it mandatory for all affiliated schools across the country to install high-resolution CCTV cameras. The special thing is that these cameras will have the facility of real-time audio-visual recording.
According to the new rule of CBSE, these cameras will be installed at the school's entrance and exit gates, lobby, corridors, stairs, classrooms, laboratories, library, canteen area, store room, playground, and other common areas. Only toilets and washrooms have been excluded from this rule.
Security is the top priority.
The board has clarified that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students and staff. Real-time monitoring with CCTV cameras will enable immediate action on any kind of indiscipline, antisocial activity, or security violation in schools.
Strict instructions for schools
CBSE has directed all schools to install high-quality cameras as per the prescribed standards and also make arrangements to keep the recordings safe. Along with this, it should also be ensured that the cameras remain active at all times and the recording never stops.
CBSE has reiterated that ensuring the safety of students is the primary responsibility of every school. It stressed the importance of creating a safe and harmonious environment supported by vigilant staff and proper use of technology. The board has expected teachers, staff, visitors, contractors, and students, all to contribute to this goal.
This instruction has been sent to the principals and managers of all schools affiliated with CBSE. Schools are required to fully comply with the updated security measures to maintain their affiliation with the board.
