Mrunal Thakur’s latest release, Son of Sardaar 2, may not have fared well in the digital space, but the actress still found herself in the spotlight. This time, over persistent dating rumours linking her to Dhanush, which have been circulating online for quite some time.
However, Mrunal has now set the record straight. In a recent conversation with Only Kollywood, she revealed that she is well aware of the speculation and can’t help but find it “funny,” dismissing the rumours with a light-hearted take.
She also addressed the buzz surrounding claims that Dhanush had flown from Chennai to Mumbai solely to attend the screening of her film, Son of Sardaar 2, as a special gesture for her.

Mrunal said, “Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him.”
She added, “Dhanush is just a good friend to me.”
How Did Dhanush & Mrunal Thakur’s Dating Rumours StartThe speculation first caught fire after a video, reportedly from the screening of Son of Sardaar 2, went viral. In the clip, Mrunal and Dhanush were seen holding hands and leaning in to whisper to each other, sparking curiosity and chatter among fans.
The buzz intensified when people noticed that Mrunal had attended the wrap-up party of Dhanush’s film Tere Ishq Mein, despite not being part of the project.

Adding more fuel to the rumours, eagle-eyed social media users pointed out that Mrunal had begun following both of Dhanush’s sisters on Instagram and they, in turn, followed her back.
This caught particular attention because, as fans were quick to note, very few of Dhanush’s co-stars or friends from the industry have such direct connections with his family members online.
On The Work FrontMrunal’s last movie, Son Of Sardaar 2, only managed to collect Rs 34.80 crore in India against a reported budget of Rs 150 crore.
The film made Rs 50 crore worldwide.
