As the Indian team prepares to face South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup final on Sunday, November 2, two Surat-based industrialists have made a heartwarming announcement. Renowned diamond tycoons Govind Dholakia and Jayantibhai Narola, owners of Shree Ramkrishna (SRK) Exports, have declared that if India lifts the trophy, each cricketer will be rewarded with natural diamond jewellery and rooftop solar panels as gifts.
The initiative, they said, aims to boost the morale of the players and honour their journey of determination and excellence. The announcement has sparked excitement across the nation, further elevating hopes for India’s historic triumph. Dholakia formally conveyed this promise to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through an official letter, in which he expressed deep admiration for the team’s courage, discipline, and commitment to the game.
“As our Indian women’s cricket team enters the ICC Women’s World Cup final, my heart swells with pride. These women have won the hearts of billions with their strength and spirit,” Dholakia statement read.
Dholakia added that SRK Exports would be honoured to present each member of the champion team with handcrafted natural diamond jewellery as a token of appreciation, along with solar panels for their homes, symbolising that the light they bring to the nation continues to shine in their own lives. He further stated that winning the World Cup would mark a milestone not only in Indian sports but also in the journey of women’s empowerment.
“Their victory will inspire generations of girls to dream, emerge, and shine,” Dholakia said.
Born in Dudhala village of Amreli, Gujarat, in 1947, Dholakia’s journey is a true tale of perseverance and vision. He moved to Surat as a young boy to work in a diamond factory, driven by determination and a dream to make a mark in the industry. Later, along with two friends, he founded SRK Exports in a small rented room for just INR 45 per month. Despite having limited formal education, Dholakia went on to build one of India’s most respected diamond enterprises, which today employs over 6,000 people.
Speaking about India’s Women’s World Cup 2025 campaign, the hosts finished fourth in the points table with three victories, defeating Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand. In the semi-final against Australia, Jemimah Rodrigues played a scintillating knock, scoring a match-winning century to power India into the finals.
Now, India will look to defeat South Africa in the summit clash and lift the World Cup trophy for the first time in their history, marking a defining moment in Indian women’s cricket.
