Another star kid is ready to shine—but this time, it’s someone who never sought the limelight. Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal, is all set to make her acting debut in Thudakkam, a film directed by 2018 fame Jude Anthany Joseph. The project is being produced under Aashirvad Cinemas, which proudly announced her silver screen entry with a poetic introduction: “In a world woven with stories, a storyteller emerges, not from shadows, but from light.”
While her elder brother Pranav made his acting debut back in 2018 with Aadhi, Vismaya has so far kept a low profile—until now.
About Vismaya
Unlike most debutants, Vismaya enters cinema with an impressive résumé that goes beyond acting. A published author, martial arts practitioner, and visual artist, she’s known for her book Grains of Stardust, a poetic and illustrated collection that caught the attention of none other than Amitabh Bachchan. Big B praised the work as “a most creative, sensitive journey of poems and paintings,” calling it proof that “talent is hereditary.”
Interestingly, Vismaya has never quite identified as a poet, calling herself “an accidental one” who simply stumbled into writing while flipping through her old sketchbooks. The idea to publish her work was sparked by her brother, Pranav, who encouraged her to blend her poetry with her art.
Her educational qualifications
As per reports in the Deccan Herald, Vismaya completed her schooling at Hebron School in Ooty and graduated from the University of Kerala. She further explored the world of art and performance through specialised programs in Prague, London, and New York. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she trained in Muay Thai at the FitKoh camp in Samui, Thailand, during 2020—a detail that adds an edge to her persona as a debut actor.
