In the Badlapur firing case, where a man sustained bullet injuries after being attacked by a group of five individuals, two juveniles have been detained. They were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Bhiwandi on Friday and subsequently sent to an observation home.

The incident occurred on Thursday around 3 PM on Boradpada Road in Badlapur.

The injured man has been identified as Altaf Shaikh, a local chicken shop owner. He was riding a motorcycle with a friend on his way to Boradpada when four to five individuals—including two juveniles—intercepted them on two motorcycles. A scuffle broke out and escalated into a physical assault. During the altercation, one of the juveniles reportedly pulled out a revolver and fired two rounds, one of which struck Shaikh in the back.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, DCP Sachin Gore said that Altaf, who is affiliated with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, had a recent dispute with a person named Naidu, who is associated with the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction. A few days earlier, Shaikh’s chicken shop was set on fire, and he suspected Naidu's involvement, which further escalated tensions between them.

A manhunt has been launched to trace the remaining two suspects. Police have also begun a search operation to recover the revolver used in the crime.

Altaf Shaikh was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for critical injuries.
