Ravindra Jadeja perishes for 89 but pushes Team India's first-innings total past 400
Meanwhile, Jadeja, who resumed day two at 41, missed out on a well-deserved ton as Josh Tongue's extra bounce got the better of the veteran for 89. It was the first and only wicket of the session for England as they broke the massive 203-run stand with visiting captain Shubman Gill.
Gill resumed day two at Edgbaston at 114 and has passed 150, his highest score in Test cricket. The partnership between Gill and Jadeja pushed India's total past 400 as India finished the session at 419/6, with Gill still batting at 168.
The toss had won by Stokes on the opening day and opted to field first.
