Topshop to make highly anticipated return with a new home on UK high street

Send Push

With Topshopsolidifying its presence back in the retail market, it felt like only a matter of time before the brand returned to its roots on the UK high street.

In July, it was announced that Topshop would be making a comeback in Ireland, taking a space in McElhinney’s in Ballybofey, Donegal. That move left UK shoppers eager to hear when the return would follow closer to home.

Now the wait is over. ASOS has confirmed that Topshop and Topman will launch an in-store residency at Liberty, bringing fresh new energy back to Soho, just minutes from the brand’s original Oxford Circus flagship.

After Arcadia went into administration in 2020, Topshop's high street stores disappeared the following year. They continued to sell clothes online through ASOS, but it never quite felt the same. #

It was hidden in an app and lacked the buzz and atmosphere people loved from the brand’s heyday, when stepping inside one of its stores felt like an event.

Back then, Topshop wasn’t just about clothes. The Oxford Circus store was an experience with five floors of fashion, makeup and beauty, with a live DJ booth, hair and nail bars, even a café and cupcake stall inside. For many, it was the beating heart of British high street culture and a place that defined a generation’s style.

But the brand’s influence on London’s shopping scene still lingers, with many Soho retailers now taking a similar approach. The Liberty residency signals not just a comeback, but a clear chance for Topshop to excite a new audience.

Michelle Wilson, Managing Director at Topshop, said: “We’re thrilled to return to UK stores through Liberty - a brand that shares our passion for creativity, nurturing talent and pushing boundaries. This launch is about reconnecting with our community in real life, and we’re excited to kick things off with a full Liberty atrium takeover.”

Michelle continued: “We’re building into a bigger summer launch moment where we’ll have our own site again. We’ll have topshop.com, and we can tell stories and present our product in our own way on a more constant basis than we have been.”

Lydia King, Liberty’s Buying and Merchandising Director added: “At Liberty, we’ve always been about discovery - curating the most exciting talent and ideas under one roof. Partnering with Topshop and Topman brings a new layer to that experience: it’s a meeting point of two iconic British names, both with deep roots in London style, a stone’s throw from Oxford Street."
