new comedy crime thriller, Death Valley, is set to have audiences in stitches with Gwyneth Keyworth starring alongside Timothy Spall.
The show introduces viewers to an oddball duo: a washed-up actor, John Chapel (Timothy) and detective sergeant Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth).
The actress shared her insights on what sets Death Valley apart from the usual crime dramas, stating: "We all love solving crimes, guessing what is going to happen and piecing it all together. It's like playing a good game of Cluedo. But also, Death Valley is really funny, it has so much heart."
She further elaborated on the dynamic between the characters, adding: "You really see John and Janie's friendship evolve and see how it helps transform them. They are two lonely people who manage to find a friend. They are genuine with each other even if he does overstep the mark at times!"
As Death Valley gears up for its premiere this weekend, we delve into Gwyneth Keyworth's life beyond the screen.
In a candid revelation, the 34-year-old actress opened up about her neurodivergence and the challenges it brings, reports Surrey Live.
Discussing her role, Gwyneth admitted that detective work wouldn't suit her in real life, saying: "I'm definitely not built for detective work. I have , I can't keep track of anything!"
Yet, when describing what she enjoys about portraying Janie, she noted traits that resonate with her own personality.
The actress added: "Janie and I are both scatty. I am always losing stuff, but Janie is more direct than I am and a lot more blunt. I like her commitment to being good at her job and how she won't let anyone get in the way of it."
Having graced our screens with formidable roles in hit series such as Game of Thrones, Misfits, and Black Mirror, Gwyneth's career highs can't be understated.
Yet, amidst the acclaim, there's one stage mishap she recalls as a 'low', revealing the incident to Essence as she recounts: "Faceplanting on stage - bad."
Nonetheless, she looks back with fondness at certain highlights, particularly enjoying her time on Black Mirror, which she attributes to a special collaboration.
She added: "I loved filming Black Mirror, I've always been a huge fan of the director, Tim Van Patten. He directed nearly all of my favourite episodes of The Sopranos, so working with him was incredible."
The star also confessed her binge-worthy indulgence, admitting to Essence that her guilty pleasure is: "Getting far too involved in Love Island than is at all necessary or acceptable."
For Gwyneth, an avid watcher, the news of Love Island's special 10-year anniversary episode from ITV is likely music to her ears.
Scheduled to broadcast before the summer series, fans will witness some of the most recognisable islanders reflecting on their villa experiences and how it forever altered their lives.
Death Valley is set to premiere on BBC One and BBC One Wales on Sunday, May 25 at 8.15pm.
