US President Donald Trump has broken his silence as new emails suggest he knew about Epstein's crimes.
In a post on Truth Social, he said: "The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they'll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they've done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects. Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap. The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk - and they should pay a fair price. There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!"
His post comes after new emails showed Epstein and his co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell referring to Trump as the "dog who won't bark."
An email from Epstein to Maxwell in April 2011 reads: "I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump.. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned. Police chief. etc. im 75 % there."
Maxwell replies: "I have been thinking about that..."
Trump was named multiple times in private emails sent by convicted paedophile Epstein to sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell and to US journalist Michael Wolff.
Earlier this year Ghislaine Maxwell was interviewed by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche where she denied seeing "any inappropriate' conduct by Trump".
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Express: "The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump."
One journalist at the White House asked Ms Leavitt whether President Trump believed former Prince Andrew should come and testify to Congress on the scandal, and she replied: "I haven't spoken to him about that specific matter, but I can ask him and get back to you." The US President has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein and has never been accused of wrongdoing in connection with the investigations into Epstein.
Earlier today White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt branded the allegations about Donald Trump as a "hoax".
She said: "These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong.
"And what President Trump has always said is that he was from Palm Beach and so was Jeffrey Epstein. Jeffrey Epstein was a member of Mar-a-Lago until President Trump kicked him out because he was a paedophile and a creep."
