Next week marks the cinematic release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will be set in the MCU's Earth-838, rather than the Sacred Timeline's Earth-616.
The superhero team are confirmed for Avengers Doomsday after the Thunderbolts end credits teased their introduction into the main Marvel universe.
Fans will no doubt be expecting a big tease for the MCU crossover blockbuster, which is set to hit cinemas on Christmas 2026.
And now, a reliable leaker has shared the original plans for those Fantastic Four post-credits scenes and also claimed a major Marvel star (who is yet to be announced) is returning for Avengers Doomsday.
Of course, do take the following with a pinch of salt.
According to MyTimeToShineHello: "For Fantastic Four: First Steps, they originally planned a post-credits scene with Chris Evans as Nomad coming to warn them. Then they replaced it with one featuring Doom. Now, in the final version, there are two post-credits scenes. Guess what they are."
Marvel Comics fans will know Nomad as an alternate identity of Steve Rogers, after he abandons his Captain America mantle. So this would be a variant of the superhero played by Evans, who reprised his version of Fantastic Four member Johnny Storm in Deadpool and Wolverine.
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr is playing the villainous Doctor Doom in Avengers Doomsday, while sharing the appearance of the late Iron Man to the people of Earth-616 universe. The scooper appears to be teasing the scenes have changed, but it's possible they're implying these are, in fact, the two end credits scenes. And if that wasn't enough, they're claiming a major Marvel star is returning in Avengers Doomsday.
The scooper added: "Chris Evans is 100 per cent back in Avengers Doomsday... as Steve." This would imply Captain America is returning but in what capacity? Old Cap? Nomad? Evil HYDRA Cap? With the multiverse anything is possible.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits UK cinemas on July 24, 2025 and Avengers Doomsday follows on December 18, 2026.
