A 32-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the Huntingdon train knife attack is now being treated as the only suspect, British Transport Police (BTP) has said. Another man, a 35-year-old from London, has been released with no further action, BTP said in a statement.
The force said police have established that he was not involved with the attack on board the LNER train from Doncaster to London on Saturday evening. One witness who was on the train described how people got off at Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire "absolutely drenched in blood" and recalled seeing "severe" injuries. A train worker who attempted to stop the attacker remains in a life-threatening condition, with the BTP saying the man's actions were "nothing short of heroic" and "undoubtedly saved many people's lives".
