Jaipur: The North Western Railway (NWR) reached a significant milestone by achieving almost 100% electrification of its routes following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration of several electrified routes from Deshnok in Bikaner Thursday.

The newly electrified Udaipur-Himmatnagar (210km) route, further connecting it to Ahmedabad, marks this achievement and will result in a reduced journey time between these cities.

A senior officer of NWR said, "Usually, Udaipur to Ahmedabad journey takes around six hours, and the electrified route will enable the trains to have better acceleration and deceleration. With this, much time would be saved, and it will certainly reduce the travel time. It can cut down almost 20 minutes."

But on the newly started rail route, we have completed electrification at 5,466km route. Now, only Dausa to Gangapur City new line is pending, which we aim to complete by 2026."

This route will benefit the business community of Udaipur and Ahmedabad and will further connect to Mumbai.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi also dedicated other electrified routes, including Suratgarh-Phalodi (336 km), Phulega-Degana (109 km), Phalodi-Jaisalmer (157 km), and Samdari-Barmer (129 km). Additionally, the newly designed and constructed Deshnok railway station was dedicated to the public.
