NEW DELHI: Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred in Rajasthan Royals ’ (RR) farewell match of the IPL 2025 season, leading a successful chase against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a remarkable innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old opener, playing with fearless composure, scored 57 off 33 balls and stitched a 98-run stand with skipper Sanju Samson (41 off 31 balls) to guide RR to a convincing win by six wickets with 17 balls to spare in pursuit of CSK’s 188.

While the match held no bearing on the playoff race, it served as a morale boost for RR, who ended a disappointing campaign on a high.

With this result, Rajasthan Royals finish ninth on the ten-team table with 8 points from 14 games, staying just above Chennai Super Kings, who remain at the bottom with 6 points from 13 matches. CSK have one game left and need a big win to climb out of the bottom spot.

The playoff scenario is now down to one open spot. Gujarat Titans (18 points), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (17), and Punjab Kings (17) have already qualified. Fourth-placed Mumbai Indians (14 points) and fifth-placed Delhi Capitals (13) face off in a virtual knockout clash on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium.



The other five franchises, including Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, CSK and RR, are all officially out of contention.
