NEW DELHI: The long wait is almost over. Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Punjab Kings in the much-anticipated IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match is set for a 7:30 PM IST start.
After 18 seasons of near-misses and heartbreaks, one of these two title-less franchises will finally lift the coveted IPL trophy. But the question remains — who will end the drought?

Expect a sea of red and thousands donning the iconic No. 18 jersey as fans turn up in full force to cheer for Virat Kohli. The RCB stalwart is playing in his fourth IPL final — and possibly his last game for some time, following his Test retirement and a break from India’s limited-overs squads.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings, who last reached the final in 2014, stormed into the summit clash with a spirited performance against five-time champions Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. Led by a magnificent knock from skipper Shreyas Iyer, PBKS sealed their first final appearance in over a decade.
Fittingly, the two best-performing sides from the league stage — RCB and PBKS — now go head-to-head for IPL glory.
But will rain play spoilsport?
Here’s the latest weather update for Ahmedabad on June 3:
MORNING WEATHER:
Ahmedabad will wake up to a hot and partly cloudy morning with temperatures peaking at 38°C and a RealFeel of 41°C. There is a 62% chance of rain, with a brief shower expected in the afternoon bringing about 1.1 mm of precipitation. Cloud cover will be around 52%, and brightness levels will remain high. Expect a warm, breezy start to the day.
AFTERNOON WEATHER:
The afternoon will stay hot and slightly humid, with temperatures around 38°C. Skies will be partly sunny, but isolated showers remain likely with a 62% chance of rain and about 1.1 mm expected. Winds from the south-southwest will blow at 15 km/h, gusting up to 43 km/h. Humidity will be at 38%, and visibility may drop to 4 km. A brief drizzle could provide temporary relief.
EVENING WEATHER:
Evening temperatures will drop to 29°C with a RealFeel of 30°C. Skies will be partly cloudy, with only a 5% chance of rain. Humidity will increase to 58%, creating a muggy atmosphere, and the dew point will be 22°C. Winds will persist from the south-southwest at 19 km/h, gusting up to 41 km/h. Cloud cover will be around 43%, and visibility will improve slightly to 5 km. There remains a slight possibility of rain in the evening.
WHAT IF RAIN WASHES OUT THE FINAL?
A short delay won’t threaten the game, as up to 120 minutes of extra time is available to complete the match. However, if rain prevents play from being completed on Tuesday, the final will shift to the reserve day—Wednesday, June 4.
If conditions don’t improve and no play is possible even on the reserve day, the team that finished higher in the league stage will be declared IPL 2025 champions.
That gives Punjab Kings the edge. Having topped the points table with nine wins from 14 matches, the Shreyas Iyer-led side would be crowned champions if rain wipes out both days.
