NEW DELHI: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen ( AIMIM ) MP Asaduddin Owaisi , participating in a high-level all-party delegation in Bahrain , strongly condemned the misuse of religion by terrorist groups to justify violence, saying that Islam unequivocally rejects terrorism .
"These terrorist organisations have justified killings of innocent people in India and they have quoted Quranic verses out of context. We have to put an end to it," Owaisi said during an interaction with prominent personalities in Bahrain. He emphasised that the Quran clearly states, "They have used religion to justify the killing of people. Islam condemns terrorism and the Quran has categorically stated that the killing of one innocent person is like the killing of whole humankind."
The statement was made as part of a broader diplomatic outreach led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda to counter global misinformation about India's counter-terrorism stance and to brief international partners on the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack .
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad , also part of the delegation, called for more robust international support in combating terrorism. "We need support at every international fora and in OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). We don't want to eliminate any country. We want Pakistan to dismantle this terrorist infrastructure and take action against terrorists," Azad said.
Echoing the sentiment, BJP MP Phangnon Konyak underlined Pakistan's continued involvement in terror activities since the partition and urged Bahrain ask Pakistan to take responsibility. "Since partition, Pakistan has not stopped its terror activities against India. Our request is if Bahrain can also come forward and ask Pakistan to take responsibility for its actions," she said, asserting that India's stand against terrorism is "very clear" and that any future attack will be met with a firm response.
The delegation includes BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, as well as Satnam Singh Sandhu, AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Ambassador Harsh Shringla.
