NEW DELHI: BJP on Saturday accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other opposition parties of being part of a conspiracy by anti-India forces abroad to weaken the country by defaming its armed forces and institutions.
"Rahul Gandhi, Congress, and INDIA alliance parties are acting as tools of foreign powers ," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters. Speaking a day after IAF chief A P Singh shared photographs and video footage to assert that India had downed six Pakistani planes and damaged a few others on the ground, Trivedi said that Rahul, who had consistently lied about Operation Sindoor , had slipped into intriguing silence since armed forces presented the facts to the public.
"The people who have often projected invaders as heroes are questioning the bravery of our armed forces during Operation Sindoor," said the Rajya Sabha MP.
He said the evidence shared by the IAF chief had exposed Congress's lies.
Trivedi said the leader of opposition had repeatedly been caught lying in court and to the public, making false claims about el ec tions and voter lists. "Today, EC has once again exposed one of his false claims about vote fraud by asking him to back his claims by swearing by them on affidavit," he said.
"Rahul Gandhi, the 'perpetual youth' of Indian politics and a leader who only speaks nonsense, has degraded the post of leader of opposition. He has been continuously demeaning all constitutional institutions. Now he is trying to vent his frustration of losing power by making unnecessary, baseless, and false allegations against EC," he added.
Trivedi dismissed Rahul's allegation that 1 lakh fraudulent voters took part in the general elections to Bangalore Central seat, asking, "Where did he get the number '1 lakh' if EC didn't provide the data?" The spokesperson also claimed Rahul had appealed to foreign powers to interfere in India's democracy.
