A man was arrested late on Tuesday after crashing his car into a security gate outside the White House, according to the US Secret Service, NYT reported.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of 17th and E Streets in Washington . Officers from the Secret Service’s uniformed division quickly took the driver into custody, and checks later confirmed the vehicle was safe.
President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time, but officials said the building was not placed on lockdown. The surrounding road remained closed while police arranged to tow the vehicle away.
